Quick answer

After you submit an online enquiry, a real lending specialist reads it and contacts you by phone or email, usually within business hours. They confirm your details, explain what looks realistic and, if you want to proceed, send links to share bank statements and verify ID. Once the assessment is done and approved, documents arrive for e-signing and funds follow. There's no credit check when you first enquire.

Key points

  • A real person reads every enquiry — it isn't auto-forwarded to a pile of lenders.
  • Expect a call or email, often from a number you don't recognise.
  • Statements, ID and documents are requested by secure link only if you proceed.
  • Funding follows approval and signed documents.

The moment you press submit

Your enquiry doesn’t vanish into a queue. It lands with the specialist team and is read by a person. That person looks at what you asked for, what it’s for, how long you’ve been trading, your approximate turnover and whether property is involved — and starts thinking about which options are realistic before they even call.

What doesn’t happen: your details aren’t sent out to a list of lenders, and nobody runs a credit check. An enquiry is a conversation starter, not a formal application.

The first call: what will they ask?

The specialist’s first job is to understand your situation better than a form can. Expect questions like:

  • What exactly is the money for, and when do you need it?
  • How is the business trading at the moment — busier, quieter, steady?
  • Are there any existing loans, leases or ATO arrangements?
  • Do you own property, and roughly what’s owed on it?
  • Is there anything in your history a lender would want explained?

There are no trick questions. Honest answers now save time later, and they help the specialist tell you plainly whether something is realistic. If you’d rather talk by email, say so — they’ll work around you.

Keep your phone handy after you submit. The call may come from a number you don’t recognise, and missed calls are the most common reason things slow down.

What happens if you decide to proceed?

If you like what you hear and want to go ahead, the online steps begin:

  1. Bank statements. You receive a secure link to share your business account history. See how bank statement links work.
  2. Identity verification. Each director, owner or guarantor completes a quick online check — see digital ID checks.
  3. Extra documents, if needed. A supplier quote, recent BAS, an ATO statement or property details.
  4. Credit check. At this stage a credit check is usually part of a formal assessment. Your specialist will tell you before it happens.
  5. Assessment and approval. The lender reviews everything and confirms the offer.
  6. E-signing. Documents arrive by email; read them carefully and sign on screen. See e-signing loan documents.
  7. Funding. Money is paid to your business account, or directly to a supplier or the ATO where that’s agreed.

How long does each step take?

It varies with the product, the amount and how quickly information comes back. Unsecured loans with clean bank data move fastest; property-secured loans include a valuation and registration. Speed can be possible in the right circumstances, but it’s never guaranteed and funding always follows approval. Our page on fast online approval explains what affects timing.

What speeds things up What slows things down
Answering the first call Missed calls and voicemail tag
Current ID on hand Expired licence or name mismatch
All business accounts linked Missing accounts discovered later
Clear purpose with a quote Vague purpose
Lodgements up to date Unlodged BAS or returns
Prompt e-signing Documents left unsigned for days

What information will you need handy?

You don’t need to prepare anything to send the enquiry itself, but having these nearby makes the follow-up quicker:

  • your driver licence or passport, checked for expiry;
  • your internet banking login, plus any token or second approver for business accounts;
  • your ABN or ACN;
  • a rough list of existing loans and what you repay each month;
  • for secured loans, the property address and the current mortgage balance;
  • any quote or invoice related to what you’re funding.

If you’d like a personalised list, the Skip-the-Branch Checklist builds one in about a minute. Or, if you’re ready now, send your enquiry and your specialist will tell you exactly what’s needed for your situation.

What if the answer is “not yet”?

Sometimes the honest answer is that a loan isn’t the right move today. If so, your specialist will tell you why and what would change it — a few more months of trading, a lodged BAS, an ATO plan in place, or a different structure. That’s not a dead end; it’s a plan. You can come back when the picture has changed.

Watch out for anyone asking for money upfront

While you wait, be alert. Scammers know people who’ve just enquired about finance are expecting calls. Scamwatch’s March 2026 alert on loan scams highlights demands for upfront payments before loan funds are released and requests to pay into personal accounts. We will never ask you to pay a fee to “unlock” a loan. If anyone does, hang up and call us on the number on this website. See how to spot a fake online lender.

Illustrative example: a Tuesday night enquiry

Illustrative only. A plumber enquires at 9pm on a Tuesday about funding a second van. At 9:15am Wednesday his specialist calls; he’s on a job, so he texts back a time. At lunch they talk for ten minutes. That afternoon he links his bank account and completes his ID check in the van. By Thursday he’s reading a finance offer, which he e-signs that night.

Ready to press submit?

If you’ve read this far, you know exactly what happens next — and that none of it involves a branch, a queue or a credit check at the start. The enquiry takes about a minute and goes to a single team who work on your situation, not to a long list of lenders.

Please take a moment to fill it in accurately. Your answers shape the first call, and the better they are, the more useful that call will be. Submit your online enquiry.

Frequently asked questions

How soon will someone contact me?

A specialist aims to contact you within business hours, often the same or next business day. Enquiries outside business hours are picked up the next working morning.

Is my enquiry an application?

No. The enquiry is a first step to understand your situation. It doesn't involve a credit check and doesn't commit you to anything.

Will lots of lenders call me?

No. Your enquiry goes to one team. We don't send it out to a long list of lenders.

What if I change my mind?

That's fine. You're not committed to anything until you sign loan documents.

Can I speed things up?

Answer the call, have your ID and banking login ready, and reply quickly to any document requests. Those three things make the biggest difference.
